χαλεπὰ τὰ καλά

AO Brothers,

We hope this message finds you well. This note is being sent jointly from the AO Alumni Advisory Board (AAB), the Housing Corporation (HC) and Eric Mantel, AO High Pi. We're reaching out to inform you that effective immediately, Eric has resigned as High Pi/chapter advisor.

Eric demonstrated servant leadership during a challenging 10-month period and played a crucial role in stabilizing the chapter's operations. As of right now, the chapter is thriving with strong grades, a renewed presence on campus, an outstanding new associate member class of 36 men, successful social events, recent renovations and a new Live-in Advisor/House Mom that the men value and respect. In addition, the Lambda Chi Office of Administration (OOA) recently spent 3 days at the chapter, meeting individually, and in groups, with brothers after which they reported they are “very pleased” with the chapter. Our views align with the OOA and Eric was instrumental in this report.

We celebrate the dedication and service Eric brought to AO. As you can imagine, Eric’s role was demanding and he spent countless hours and exhausted personal resources and time away from his family meeting with faculty, advisors, the undergrads and alumni. His leadership through a tumultuous time and indefatigable presence has been invaluable. The chapter and boys are in a much better place than when he accepted the role and embraced the motto of Kalepa ta Kala.

We want to assure you that the AAB and HC will support the chapter in selecting and recommending a new chapter advisor to the Lambda Chi OOA. In living up to the value of replacing himself, Eric will participate in the transition to a new High Pi. This is expected to be completed by October 31 and you will be promptly informed of the decision.

As Eric’s arrival and departure demonstrates, change in any organization is both inevitable and healthy; however, the chapter will only continue to thrive with alumni presence and support. There are many roles and opportunities where your talents and leadership are needed. If you’re interested in getting involved in any capacity and want to discuss it further, please send a note to aoalumniboard@gmail.com and we can coordinate a conversation with appropriate parties.

We hope to see many of you at the tailgate and house for homecoming on October 21 and look forward to getting together. Warm regards and please join us in this celebration of a job well done!

Yours In ZAX,

AO AAB, HC and Eric Mantel
